K'aute Pasifika is a Pacific Island initiative. Community owned, highly mobile, providing Primary healthcare and social services for all our Pacific Island peoples.
K'aute Pasifika's skilled and trained Pacific Island people deliver to their own Pacific communities. All workers are fluent in English and several Pacific Island languages.
They have a broad range of networks with other community organisations, mainstream providers and government agencies.
Their board members are Pacific Island community leaders whom our communities can go to for assistance.
They offer:
Health Services:
Assessment routine health checks, referrals to GP and specialist care, health promotion / education, massage / mirimiri, outreach immunisation, diabetes education / check, well-child checks/ monitoring, asthma and respiratory education, mental health education, support and facilitation, quit smoking programme / promotion, home visits and nursing service.
Disabilities Unit:
Support, facilitation and education for our Pacific Island communities with disabilities and elderly and disability day programme.
Social Services:
Advocacy / support in areas of immigration, education, housing, justice, employment, budgeting and culturally appropriate support. Every Pacific Island community is involved in helping their own people in need, home visits, individual families and extended family support, holiday programmes for the young, budgeting advice and counselling.
Education Services:
Homework support centre for our young people attending primary to high schools, NZQA certificate in employment skills, assistance in accessing training at other educational establishments, Pacific Islanders wanting to learn their culture and language and basic computer and information technology skills.
They hope to:
* achieve happy and well Pacific Island children, youth, parents and families.
* reduce admission rates to hospital.
* increase self referral.
* increase immunisation uptake, and
* increase Pacific Islanders accessing existing education establishments, health and social services.
